A new 3-story education and administrative building is named Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and houses office space for Phipps' Research Department, Center for Sustainable Landscaping and Horticulture, Buildings and Grounds and Education Departments, classrooms and exploratory spaces, administration office and meeting space. The building applies economics, cost control, and a design solution that naturally represents its core functions of innovative sustainable research and science education programs, and serves a vital role in the public garden’s immersive visitor experience.
Phipps’ Center Attains the Planet’s Highest Sustainable Building Certifications
The building has met the Living Building Challenge™ and has achieved “Living Building Challenge Certification.” It is arguably one of earth’s greenest projects, and the first project anywhere to obtain all four of the world's highest sustainable building, and design standards.
